Educational Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the definition, causes, and symptomology of cervical disc disease.
- Discuss the rationale for disc replacement.
- Understand
the rationale for choosing disc replacement vs. ACDF as well as the
post-operative differences between the surgeries.
- Develop
and implement an effective plan of care using the knowledge gained in
the treatment of patients s/p cervical spine surgery.

Course Description
This course is for PTs and PTAs who are interested in learning about
spinal surgery, specifically cervical disc disease, anterior cervical
discectomy, and fusion, as well as disc replacement. The rationale for
disc replacement vs. ACDF (anterior cervical disc fusion) will be
discussed as well as the post-operative differences between the
surgeries. The post-operative benefits for patients will also be
outlined.

Certificates will be awarded to participants upon successful passing of a post-test after the conclusion of the course.
About the Speaker
Seth Joseffer, M.D.
Dr. Seth Joseffer, M.D. is a board-certified neurosurgeon who treats
disorders and diseases of the brain and spine. He specializes in the
application of minimally invasive surgical procedures and has advanced
training in cranial and spinal surgery. He received his medical degree
from New York University Medical School where he graduated with medical
society honors.
Dr. Joseffer is a surgeon with Princeton Brain and Spine where he
focuses on providing exceptional healthcare to his community and is
dedicated to a patient-first approach. Dr. Joseffer is the Chief of
Neurosurgery at Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center.
Dr. Joseffer is an active contributor to medical research and has
published numerous journal articles. Dr, Joseffer has made significant
contributions to the medical community as a member of the Congress of
Neurological Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological
Surgeons.
In 2016, 2017, and 2018, Dr. Joseffer was chosen as a “Jersey Choice Top
Doctor” as voted by NJ Physicians in NJ Monthly Magazine.
